Application Solution Architect - Corporate Payments
Global Bank | 12-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Hybrid (South London)
Our client, a leading Global Bank are looking for an experienced Application Solution Architect to support their Corporate Payments technology platforms on a 12-month contract.
You will define and deliver end-to-end solution architecture aligned to business strategy, regulatory mandates, and enterprise standards, working closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders across a complex, high-volume payments environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own solution architecture and architectural vision aligned with business strategy, enterprise architecture, and technology standards.
- Translate business requirements into clear solution intent, system designs, and non-functional requirements (security, resilience, scalability, performance).
- Shape high-level, modular and flexible architectures, evolving designs iteratively as business requirements mature.
- Partner with business stakeholders and third-party vendors to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and regulatory compliant.
- Conduct architecture and design reviews, ensuring adherence to security, risk, and operational standards.
- Contribute to architecture runway planning and prioritisation of technology initiatives.
Key Requirements
- Strong Corporate Payments architecture experience (essential).
- Deep knowledge of EMEA and global payment rails including SEPA, TARGET2/TIPS, Faster Payments, CHAPS, UK RTGS, and SWIFT MT/MX.
- Proven delivery of regulatory change (PSD2/PSD3, Open Banking, ISO 20022, payment scheme mandates).
- Expertise in API-led and microservices architectures, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and integration technologies.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, containerisation, and modern development languages (Java, .NET, Python, JS frameworks).
- Ability to translate complex architecture for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 10+ years' experience in Banking/Financial Services technology.
