Job description
An NHS hospital in Surrey is seeking an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the therapy team, working across elderly care and general medical wards. This is a well-supported role within a multidisciplinary environment, ideal for an OT with strong discharge planning and acute hospital experience.
You will manage a varied caseload of older adults and general medical patients, supporting safe and timely discharges while promoting independence and functional outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Manage an autonomous caseload across elderly care and general medical wards
- Complete functional assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans
- Support complex discharge planning, including equipment provision and community referrals
- Work closely with the MDT including physiotherapists, nurses, doctors, and social services
- Contribute to service development and support junior staff where required
Person specification
- HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist
- Experience working at Band 6 level (or strong Band 5 ready to step up)
- Previous NHS experience within elderly care and/or general medicine
- Strong communication, assessment, and discharge planning skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
