Job Title Band 6 Audiologist - Children's Services Vacancy Reference GKQ6X Vacancy Type Locum Location Community-based children's audiology service - Havering area Department Targeted Services/Children's & Regional Services Hours Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm Full-time Start Date ASAP End Date 31 March 2026 (with potential to extend) Role Overview An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Audiologist to join a busy children's audiology service. The post holder will deliver high-quality diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services for children, supporting early identification and management of hearing difficulties in line with best practice and national guidance. This is a hands-on clinical role working across community settings, requiring a calm, child-centred approach and the ability to work independently within a supportive multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Carry out paediatric hearing assessments, including audiometry, OAEs and tympanometry. Undertake hearing aid fittings and provide follow-up support for children and families. Accurately record and update patient records with assessment findings and outcomes. Apply NICE guidance in the management of glue ear and other common childhood hearing conditions. Work autonomously while contributing effectively to the wider MDT. Communicate clearly and compassionately with children, parents and carers. Maintain high standards of clinical governance and professional practice. Essential Requirements BSc in Audiology or equivalent qualification. Experience carrying out hearing assessments with children. Competence in audiometry, OAEs and tympanometry. Knowledge of NICE guidance relating to paediatric audiology (including glue ear management). Calm, approachable manner with strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage a clinical caseload effectively. Desirable Experience Previous experience in community children's services. Experience working across multiple clinical sites. Familiarity with electronic patient record systems.
