Data Engineer - Pharma/Drug Development - Python/SQL/NoSQL - ETL - Data Warehousing

Inside IR35 | Contract | Day Rate: DOE

*Essential: Experience working in pharma, biotech, or life sciences environments*

An established pharmaceutical organisation is expanding its Data Science & Engineering function and is seeking a Data Engineer to help strengthen its core data infrastructure supporting drug development and analysis.

This role plays a key part in building scalable, high-quality data platforms integrating complex laboratory and scientific data sources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of the data and IT architectural roadmap

  • Integrate data from laboratory instruments and scientific systems

  • Build robust ETL pipelines and data platforms transforming raw data into actionable insights

  • Collaborate closely with data scientists on data structures, storage, and processing

  • Support data visualisation and automated analytical systems

  • Improve data accessibility, quality, and reliability across the organisation

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong programming experience with Python, SQL, and NoSQL technologies

  • Hands-on experience with ETL processes and data warehousing

  • Exposure to technologies such as Kafka, Hadoop, C/C++ is advantageous

  • Experience designing and building data platforms in AWS or Azure

  • Understanding of scalable ML-ready data architectures

Essential:

  • Experience working in pharma, biotech, or life sciences environments

  • Genuine interest in machine learning and AI-enabled systems
