Reception Class SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1) - Pre-Verbal & Sensory Needs

A mainstream primary school in Middlesbrough is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception-aged child who is pre-verbal and highly sensory-seeking. This is a full-time, long-term role running for the remainder of the academic year, with the potential to extend.

The school is looking for someone who can:
Build a trusting, consistent relationship with a young child who requires structure, patience and predictable routines.
Support sensory regulation, communication development and engagement in Early Years learning.
Work confidently with pre-verbal children, using visual aids, modelling language, sensory strategies and play-based communication.
Follow guidance from the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver an individual support plan.
Be reliable, nurturing and able to remain calm while supporting behaviours linked to sensory needs.

Requirements:
Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally Autism, sensory processing needs or delayed communication.
Experience in Early Years or Reception is highly beneficial.
Ability to commit Full time for the remainder of the academic year.
Strong communication, professionalism and a child-centred approach.
Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
