We are seeking an experienced Paint Shop Team Leader to take ownership of our client s paint shop operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will lead from the front, delivering high-quality powder coating and wet spray finishes while driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.
You will play a key role in developing the paint shop into a centre of excellence, ensuring production targets are met and quality standards are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Ownership
- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the paint shop
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of paint shop operatives
- Plan and allocate work to meet production schedules and priorities
- Set and maintain high standards of workmanship, organisation, and discipline
- Identify and implement improvements to processes, quality, and efficiency
Technical & Production
- Carry out powder coating and wet spraying to a high industrial standard
- Prepare, mask, and inspect components prior to coating
- Operate and maintain spray booths, ovens, and paint equipment
- Perform aluminium pre-treatment processes including Iridite NCP (training provided)
- Work to SOPs, technical data sheets, and safety data sheets
- Monitor production progress and report issues or overruns
Quality
- Ensure all finishes meet specification and quality requirements
- Carry out in-process quality checks and maintain accurate records
- Investigate defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Promote a right first time quality culture
What We re Looking For
Essential:
- Proven experience in powder coating and wet spraying within a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience as a Team Leader, Supervisor, or Senior Paint Sprayer
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- High attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset
