Purpose of Role
Social Personnel is advertising a Social Worker role for Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. To support the recruitment and assessment of foster carers and supported lodgings hosts, ensuring high-quality care provision for children and young people in Stockton-on-Tees.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive fostering assessments of mainstream foster carers, kinship carers, and supported lodgings hosts.
- Work collaboratively with fostering team colleagues, other council teams, and partner agencies.
- Ensure all assessments and recommendations comply with agreed policies, procedures, and statutory guidelines.
- Prepare clear, evidence-based reports to inform decision-making panels and care planning.
- Contribute to the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of carers.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in social care or related field, ideally with children and families.
- Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, safeguarding, and assessment frameworks.
- Excellent communication, interviewing, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multi-agency partners and within council procedures.
Desirable
- Previous experience in fostering assessments or recruitment of carers.
- Understanding of local fostering services and support networks.
