Role: Transport Controller- 4 on 4 off rotating (Days/Nights)
Location: Huddersfield
Salary: 32,000 - 35,000 + 3,500 Shift Allowance

The Role

We are recruiting a Transport Controller- 4 on 4 off rotating to support a critical, time-sensitive delivery operation across the UK and Ireland. This role sits at the centre of the operation and is responsible for ensuring deliveries are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with strict customer and regulatory requirements.

You will be responsible for controlling daily delivery plans, managing drivers and vehicles during live operations, responding to issues as they arise, and ensuring customers are kept informed. The role requires calm decision-making, strong organisation, and the ability to prioritise under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Controlling and delivering daily transport plans, ensuring the right resources are in place
• Managing drivers during their shifts, ensuring work is completed safely, legally, and on time
• Identifying and resolving operational issues such as delays, missed deliveries, vehicle defects, or resource shortages
• Replanning work in Real Time to minimise disruption and avoid service failures
• Keeping customers informed of delays or changes, following agreed communication processes
• Preventing operational and stock errors by ensuring correct loads, documentation, and system entries
• Managing vehicle defects, breakdowns, and maintenance issues in coordination with workshops and suppliers
• Acting as a first point of contact during incidents or emergencies and escalating appropriately
• Maintaining clear and accurate shift handovers so ongoing issues are properly managed

Key Experiences

• Experience as a Transport Controller- 4 on 4 off rotating within a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain environment.
• Strong administrative skills with a high level of attention to detail
• Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-moving, live environment
• Good understanding of driver hours, compliance, and operational risk
• Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with drivers, customers, and internal teams
• Calm, structured approach to problem-solving, especially under pressure
• Ability to commute to Huddersfield (Daily)
