A leading independent school in Cambridgeshire is seeking a Head of Science for their Junior School. This is a full time and permanent role from September 2026.

Job Description includes:

  • This role will entail teaching Science from Year 6 through to Year 8 including Common Entrance and Scholarship alongside leading the department
  • To review assessment information and agree pupil setting arrangements with the team of staff teaching Science in years 6, 7 and 8 and advise the the Senior School Head of Science on the setting of pupils transferring to year 9
  • Take responsibility for curriculum coordination, resourcing, budgeting, development planning and liaison with regard to Science matters throughout the Junior School
  • To line manage the Science Technician

Person Specification includes:

  • Be an experienced, graduate specialist teacher of Science with wide experience of teaching, able to demonstrate an ability to promote the achievement of pupils of all abilities through inspirational teaching

  • Have a demonstrable interest in current educational initiatives and a commitment to ongoing personal, professional development and the development of colleagues in a team for which they are responsible
