AWS Platform Engineer (Contract)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: £340 - £420.00 per day + Inside IR35
 

Salt is recruiting for a large consultancy that is looking for 2x AWS Platform Engineer to join their dynamic team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining their AWS infrastructure and platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional and globally distributed teams to ensure a smooth operation, and security of their cloud-based systems.

Initial contract length is 3-6 months with likely extensions and the end client is in London. This is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage AWS infrastructure using best practices and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of Helm charts, Kubernetes is a must
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams, both locally and in global distributed teams, to understand their requirements and provide solutions for deploying and maintaining applications on AWS.
  • Implement and maintain continuous integration and deployment pipelines using Jenkins.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools using Python to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Utilize Airflow for managing and scheduling data pipelines and ETL workflows.
  • Manage AWS services such as S3, EC2, and other AWS services for data storage, compute resources, and message queuing.
  • Implement infrastructure as code using Ansible and Terraform for provisioning and configuration management.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot distributed systems, identifying and resolving performance and scalability issues.
  • Utilize Splunk and other monitoring tools for log analysis and system monitoring to ensure system stability and security.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and globally distributed teams to ensure adherence to Agile methodologies and participate in agile ceremonies.
  • Act as a team player, fostering a collaborative work environment and aiding team members when needed.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in AWS and cloud infrastructure management.
  • Apply SQL and relational database knowledge for database management and optimization.
  • Perform database performance tuning to enhance system efficiency.
