Maintenance Engineer

Colchester Full-Time 29,000 - 40,000 per year

We are recruiting a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to support a busy food production and packing site. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for keeping machinery, equipment, and facilities running safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

This position would suit someone with mechanical or electrical maintenance experience who enjoys problem-solving, variety, and working as part of a close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production and packhouse machinery
• Diagnose faults quickly and complete effective repairs to reduce downtime
• Undertake general site and building maintenance (plumbing/electrical skills desirable)
• Ensure all work complies with health & safety and food safety standards
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report recurring issues
• Work closely with operations teams to improve efficiency and reliabilit
• Support site upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement projects

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
• Background in food production, manufacturing, FMCG, or similar environments preferred
• Strong understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
• Practical, hands-on approach with good fault-finding skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible and dependable, particularly during seasonal peak periods
