Payments Subject Matter Expert

Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in their office in Hemel Hempstead)
Contract: Outside IR35
Day rate: Up to £850 per day

My client requires an experienced Payments SME to develop a clear, end-to-end understanding of all activities required to implement and operate American Express (AMEX) as an onsite payment channel.

This includes a detailed view across contractual, technical, and operational dimensions, covering both the initial implementation and the ongoing run-state.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Establishing a new merchant relationship with American Express
- Understanding AMEX fee structures, settlement timelines, and contractual requirements
- Alignment with the Payment Gateway Provider support model and any commercial implications
- Configuration changes required to enable AMEX across systems
- Handling of pre-authorisations, incremental authorisations, and final settlement on room accounts
- Updates to onsite payment flows (eg pay-as-you-go vs charge-to-room)
- PCI DSS considerations and confirmation of compliance across all components
- Major re-platforming of PoS/Epos systems
- Working closely with stakeholders & Vendors
