Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Van Driver/Stores Operative to join our client based in Lympne, Kent (CT21).

Our client is a leading manufacturer of mobile folding furniture, providing versatile and high-quality solutions for events, schools, offices, and other environments where flexibility and efficient use of space are essential. Their product range includes folding tables, chairs, and other mobile furniture, all designed for easy storage, transport, and deployment.

This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position offering long-term stability within a well-established and growing business.

Job Title

Stores and Van Driver

Job Purpose

To support the business by collecting materials and goods from suppliers, transporting them safely to site or stores, and assisting with general stores duties to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Collections

  • Collect materials, parts, and equipment from suppliers as scheduled
  • Load and unload the company van safely and efficiently
  • Ensure items collected match delivery notes and purchase orders
  • Deliver goods to site, stores, or other company locations as required
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects
  • Keep the van clean, tidy, and roadworthy

Stores Duties

  • Receive, check, and book in goods to the stores system
  • Organise and store materials safely and correctly
  • Prepare items for issue to site staff or departments
  • Assist with stock control and stock checks
  • Maintain a clean and organised stores area

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Drive in a safe and responsible manner at all times
  • Follow company health & safety procedures
  • Ensure loads are secure and comply with road regulations
  • Report any incidents, damages, or shortages promptly

Skills & Experience

Essential

Full, clean UK driving licence (or relevant country licence)

Experience driving vans

Good knowledge of local suppliers and road networks (preferred)

Good organisational skills

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Desirable

  • Previous stores or warehouse experience
  • Basic computer or stock system knowledge

  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling
  • Good communication skills
  • Positive, flexible, and team-oriented attitude

Package & Benefits

  • £14.00 per hour
  • 20 days holiday plus statutory holidays, increasing to 25 days plus statutory holidays after 3 years service
  • Pension scheme with 3% employer contribution after 3 months
  • Monday to Friday working hours
  • Full-time, permanent position
