Technical Lead

London or Manchester/Hybrid

£750 a day, inside IR35

A leading organisation within the specialty insurance and reinsurance sector is looking for a Technical Lead to design and deliver modern, cloud-based digital underwriting solutions.

You'll lead the development of scalable, secure platforms on Microsoft Azure, working closely with global technology teams, actuaries, and business stakeholders. This is a hands-on leadership role combining solution design, coding, mentoring, and technical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of cloud-native solutions for digital underwriting use cases

• Build and maintain high-quality applications using TypeScript

• Design and manage solutions on Azure, including App Services, Functions, and containers (AKS)

• Use Databricks to support data modelling, analytics, and actuarial insights

• Set up and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps

• Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and lead technical design sessions

• Apply cloud security best practices within a regulated insurance environment

Key Skills

• Strong commercial software development experience with technical leadership responsibility

• Advanced TypeScript skills and solid Azure expertise

• Experience with containers, CI/CD, and data platforms such as Databricks

• Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
