Overview

Position: On-Call Security Officer

This role is part of the Security Team and helps provide a safe and secure environment for employees and guests.

Location

San Francisco, CA (345 California Center). The hotel is a 48-story landmark with top-floor guestrooms offering panoramic city and Bay views, steps from Union Square, the Ferry Building, and Fisherman's Wharf.

Role Overview

The Security Officer is a vital member of the Security Team, responsible for maintaining safety and security for guests, employees, and property. The Security Team operates 24 hours a day. The Security Officer participates in day-to-day security operations to ensure safety and security throughout the property. The ideal candidate is a skilled problem solver with strong ethics, high attention to detail, and excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. This is a physical role requiring the ability to stand up to 8 hours per shift and lift up to 50 lbs. A flexible work schedule is required.

Responsibilities
  • Safeguard the hotel, guests, and associates' property from vandalism, theft, and crime.
  • Monitor and control movement of associates, visitors, and contractors entering/leaving the hotel via the staff entrance.
  • Handle tasks with diplomacy, tact, discretion, and efficiency.
  • Record and manage visitors' belongings when entering/leaving via the associate entrance or loading dock.
  • Prevent unauthorized personnel from accessing hotel floors and back-of-house areas.
  • Be fully conversant with the hotel layout and current events, activities, and functions during duty.
  • Patrol assigned areas to ensure safety and comfort of all guests.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Excellent customer service and guest contact skills.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the same or a similar role; luxury hotel experience preferred.
  • Reading, writing, and spoken English proficiency required (additional languages such as Spanish, Tagalog, or Mandarin a plus).
  • Familiarity with state/local safety regulations (OSHA); CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage priorities, and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, creative, and fast-paced environment.
  • Outgoing, people-oriented personality with effective interpersonal skills and strong teamwork.
Compensation

Hourly Rate: $30.76/hour.
