About the role
As an Azure Cloud Security Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, implementing, and enhancing secure cloud environments within Azure. You will be a valued member of the cloud engineering and security team, partnering closely with architects, platform engineers, and client stakeholders to strengthen cloud security posture and support ongoing cloud migration initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Lead security hardening efforts across Azure environments, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational compliance requirements.
- Support and guide cloud migration activities with a deep focus on security implications, controls, and guardrails.
- Configure, manage, and optimize Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Sentinel for SIEM and threat monitoring.
- Develop secure Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate and standardize cloud resource provisioning.
- Oversee and maintain Microsoft Entra ID integrations, including sync/connect to on-premises Active Directory.

What you need to have to be considered
- Strong expertise in Azure cloud security concepts and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID resource management and identity governance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Sentinel for threat detection, monitoring, and SIEM operations.
- Experience using Terraform to provision and secure cloud infrastructure through automation.
- Ability to provide expert guidance on Azure platform security and lead security-focused cloud migration efforts.
- Experience implementing Azure Policies, RBAC, and Conditional Access.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (required).
- Experience securing cloud-native applications and infrastructure.
These will help you stand out
- Expertise in Entra ID management specifically for hybrid identity setups with on-premises AD sync/connect.
- Familiarity with healthcare data protection regulations and compliance frameworks (eg, HIPAA, PHI handling).
- Python Scripting for automation and security tooling.
- Knowledge of data migration processes and secure data handling practices.

Salary and Other Compensation
Applications will be accepted until February 15, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $ 110,000 - $ 130,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
