Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI) is a private, nonprofit organization and Baltimore's only comprehensive crisis response system of care. Since 1992, BCRI has provided timely, person-centered behavioral health crisis services, including mobile crisis response, detoxification, crisis residential programs, and community-based supports.
Position Summary
BCRI is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Vice President of Finance to provide executive leadership and strategic oversight of all financial operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role ensures fiscal integrity, transparency, sustainability, and compliance across the organization. The VP of Finance will oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, accounting operations, grant/contract financial management, audits, cash flow, and financial strategy. This position is a key member of the executive leadership team and plays a critical role in supporting BCRI's mission and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead organization-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Oversee all accounting functions, including AP/AR, month-end close, and audit readiness
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements and performance reporting
- Manage grant and contract financial compliance, reporting, and cost allocation
- Monitor cash flow, revenue tracking, and financial sustainability
- Support medical billing financial oversight and performance review
- Partner with leadership to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency
- Supervise and mentor finance team staff; build strong systems and accountability
Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree (MBA, Accounting/Finance, Nonprofit Management, or related)
- CPA required
- 10+ years progressive financial management experience
- 5+ years in senior nonprofit finance leadership (Director/VP/CFO level)
- Strong experience with grants/contracts, nonprofit accounting standards (FASB), and compliance
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems (Sage Intacct preferred)
Preferred
- CNAP or other nonprofit-specific certification
- Experience in behavioral health, substance use, or healthcare nonprofit environments
- Grant financial reporting, governmental accounting, or compliance certifications
