Senior Legal Counsel (VP) - Global Markets, OTC Derivatives (FX, Rates, Equities)
We are seeking an experienced Vice President & Senior Counsel to join our Legal team. The successful candidate will provide expert legal counsel on regulatory, transactional, and operational matters related to our OTC derivatives businesses, with a focus on FX, interest rate derivatives and equity swaps.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal support for the firm's OTC derivatives businesses, specializing in FX, interest rate derivatives and equity swaps
- Oversee the negotiation of ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, Master Confirmation Agreements and other derivatives documentation
- Advise on CFTC and SEC regulations, applicable bank regulation, Dodd-Frank compliance, and other applicable regulatory requirements for swap dealers
- Support new product development by identifying and addressing legal and regulatory considerations
- Collaborate with business, operations, and compliance teams to ensure regulatory compliance in trading activities
- Monitor regulatory developments and provide strategic advice on implementation of new regulations
- Represent the firm in industry groups and regulatory discussions
- Manage relationships with external counsel on complex matters
- Provide training to business units on relevant legal and regulatory issues
Qualifications
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience in derivatives, swap dealer regulation, prime brokerage or related financial transactions
- In-depth knowledge of CFTC, SEC and bank regulations applicable to swap dealers
- Strong understanding of Dodd-Frank Title VII, EMIR, and other global derivatives regulations
- Extensive experience with ISDA documentation
- Previous experience at a financial institution, law firm with strong financial services practice, or regulatory agency
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal colleagues

The role is located in State Street's offices in Boston, MA or in Jersey City, NJ

Salary Range
$130,000 - $238,750 Annual
The range quoted applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would work outside of the primary location, the applicable range could differ.
