Rush University Medical Center, ranked(honor roll) in USA, is an 800-bed academic medical center in Chicago. Rush University has a nationally ranked cardio-thoracic surgery Department (rank) that performs hundreds of surgical cases annually. Rush has a rapidly growing cardiothoracic anesthesia practice which includes a wide spectrum of open-heart cases, including complex aortic repairs, advance valve repairs, left ventricular assist devices and ECMO support. Rush is also one of the busiest 'hybrid' cardiac case volumes in the city and is involved in multiple clinical studies of cutting-edge technologies for hybrid valve repairs. The Anesthesia department is home to very large residency program, and has a thriving, NIH funded research division. Due to expanding services, the Department of Anesthesiology is currently recruiting a fellowship trained Cardiac Anesthesiologist. This position involves clinical work in a multi-specialty O.R. and requires commitment to active involvement in patient care and teaching trainees, with opportunities for scholarly effort and clinical research.
