SDL Search Partners recently engaged on an exclusive Tax Director search, with an incredibly prestigious and well-established investment management firm.

This organization has a long history of success and a strong reputation as a mission-driven investment fund.

The leadership team is looking to bring in a Tax Director in a newly created role, focused heavily on tax strategy, building relationships cross-functionally across the organization, partnering with Head Counsel and Managing Director. This role requires an expert level of research abilities, a strong background in investment tax issues, and an executive presence, ability to build relationships internally and externally and execute on a tax vision and strategy to support the firms continued commitment to excellence.

The Tax Director should have 10 - 20 years mixed between Big Four/public accounting tax experience & PE/hedge fund experience, a CPA and JD.

The team works on a hybrid schedule near New Haven, CT. The firm offers a generous base salary, bonus, and fantastic benefits & retirement plan. Relocation candidates will be considered.

Requirements:

  • BS, Accounting, Finance, or related
  • CPA and JD required
  • 10 - 20 years total experience, ideally a mix of Big Four experience & in-house asset management/investment management tax experience
  • Some prior experience working as an attorney, tax focus, or otherwise, a plus, but not required.
  • Expert level tax knowledge in the investment management space
  • Exceptionally strong relationship building skills, communication abilities and business partnering skills
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and act as a strategic business partner within the organization
  • Desire to work for a mission-driven organization
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills
