Laser Engineer
EQUITY: Yes; structured on a case-by-case basis
Company DescriptionA pioneering clean energy technology company developing advanced pulsed-power and fusion systems. The team consists of fast-moving builders and innovators dedicated to advancing fusion energy solutions.
About the JobThe Electrical Engineer will design and develop complex electronic systems to drive pulsed power and fusion technologies. The role involves circuit design, PCB layout, and hands-on system integration in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.
The Laser Engineer will design, develop, and deploy high-energy Laser systems that support advanced fusion and pulsed-power applications. This role is hands-on and highly cross-functional, suited for engineers who take ownership from concept through operation.
What You'll Do- Design and develop Laser systems that generate short-duration, high-energy pulses of light.
- Develop and test Laser components, including Laser cavities, mirrors, and amplifiers, to withstand high-energy pulses.
- Collaborate with optical, electrical, and mechanical engineers to integrate Laser systems with larger systems.
- Conduct research and development activities to explore new technologies and techniques for improving high-energy Laser systems.
- Plan and oversee the manufacturing, installation, and operation of Laser systems.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure products meet industry standards and MagLIF requirements.
- Perform cost analysis and create project timelines to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Write technical reports and deliver presentations to communicate design concepts, testing results, and project progress to internal and external stakeholders.
Required:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Optics, Optoelectronics, Laser Physics, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in high-energy Laser design, analysis, and testing.
- 2+ years of experience with Laser amplification techniques.
- 2+ years of experience with Laser modeling, simulation, and design software.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- Ability to travel and work extended hours or weekends as needed.
- Must meet U.S. export compliance requirements (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible under ITAR).
