Manufacturing Test Software Engineer - Powering Autonomous Vehicles
Manufacturing Test Software Engineer, Advanced Sensing Systems
This role is built for an engineer who enjoys being close to the product and equally close to the code. You will help shape how sophisticated sensing hardware is tested, validated, and scaled into production. The focus is on manufacturing test software that ensures quality, reliability, and efficiency for complex electro optical systems used in real world applications.
You will work within a highly collaborative test and manufacturing engineering group, partnering closely with product development and operations teams. Your work will directly influence production readiness, yield, test coverage, and long term manufacturability of next generation LiDAR and sensing platforms.
What You Will Do- Design, maintain, and continuously improve automated test software and test platforms used in manufacturing
- Serve as a technical owner for test systems, driving improvements in test time, throughput, yield, and overall product quality
- Implement and maintain statistical quality controls and measurement system validation techniques
- Investigate failures and inefficiencies, identify root causes, and implement durable corrective and preventive actions
- Support production scaling efforts by improving test robustness, repeatability, and manufacturability
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation including work instructions, recovery procedures, and training materials
- Train and support test operators during new product introductions and production ramp ups
- Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance manufacturing performance year over year
- Strong proficiency in Python including debugging, data collection, and analysis
- Solid understanding of software engineering practices across the full development lifecycle
- Experience with code quality practices such as reviews, version control, automated builds, and testing
- Familiarity with issue tracking and collaboration tools commonly used in engineering organizations
- Experience deploying and supporting test software across multiple operating systems including Windows and Linux
- Hands on experience supporting manufacturing test for hardware products
- Ability to work across disciplines including software, electrical, mechanical, and optical engineering
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Five or more years of experience developing or supporting test automation in a production environment
- Background working with LiDAR or other advanced sensing technologies
- Experience with test and measurement equipment and factory automation systems
- Exposure to robotic automation, machine vision, or computer vision libraries
- Experience analyzing manufacturing data using statistical or visualization tools
- Primarily office based work with extensive computer use and collaboration
- Occasional light physical activity associated with lab or production support
This role is ideal for engineers who want to see their software directly influence hardware quality at scale. If you enjoy solving production problems, improving systems end to end, and working at the intersection of software and advanced hardware, this position offers a highly impactful path.
