Who we are looking for:
F&R is seeking an Environmental Scientist for our Chesapeake, VA location! The selected candidate will work independently on a variety of environmental consulting projects within an interdisciplinary team of environmental professionals comprised of environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, and industrial hygienists. The selected candidate will work conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, hazardous materials assessments (ie, asbestos, mold, lead, etc.), and wetland delineation. We are looking for a candidate with the ability to work productively and independently in one of these primary service lines and will train and support growth in our other primary service lines. This is a good opportunity for a motivated professional in the early portion of their career who is looking for the opportunity for advancement and project management experience.
What youll be doing:
Including but not limited to:
  • Perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
  • Perform hazardous material and IAQ inspections and consulting
  • Perform wetland delineations and stream determinations
  • Write technical reports and proposals
  • Coordinate projects and oversee support staff
  • Be willing to participate in occasional overnight travel, night, and/or weekend work
What you need to have:
  • Bachelors degree in relevant scientific discipline
  • 5 years of experience in relevant field preferred
  • Proficiency in Environmental Field sampling techniques
  • Experience performing Phase I and Phase II ESAs preferred
  • Industrial Hygienist experience preferred
  • Wetland delineation and Natural Resources consulting experience preferred
  • Proficiency with standard word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance practices
  • Excellent research, writing, organizational, and language skills
  • Be a team player who is honest, self-motivated and reliable
  • Valid drivers license with insurable driving record required
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet project requirements/deadlines
  • Must be willing to participate in and pass F&Rs pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
