Do you have a passion for leadership education? Are you experienced in a classroom setting? Join the Student Activities and Leadership Development's team and help connect campus and classroom experiences by designing and implementing programs that help students grow personally and professionally.

Reporting to the Director of Student Activities & Leadership Development (SALD), the Assistant Director will provide strategic direction for various student leadership programs and direct the UC Lead Co-curricular Leadership Certificate. The successful candidate will draw upon the University of Cincinnati's experience and the mission of Student Activities & Leadership Development to create and sustain innovative programs that foster holistic leadership development.



  • 8-10 Students Interns
  • 1-2 Graduate Interns

Teaching and Classroom Engagement

  • Design, prepare and deliver teaching materials for courses in the Student Leadership Certificate including the Introduction of Student Leadership Certificate course
  • Assess students' work in courses and provide timely feedback regarding course assignments and practicum course projects
  • Advise and support practicum students in the Student Leadership Certificate Practicum Course
  • Approve student certificate status

Leadership and Engagement

  • Direct the UC LEAD leadership certificate in partnership with the Center for Organizational Leadership
  • Oversee Camp Bearcats, an overnight first-year leadership retreat
  • Plan and implement the annual Student Activities & Leadership Development student leadership conference; a day-long event hosted in October
  • Develop partnerships with local businesses to create professional leadership development programs/opportunities for students
  • Partner with faculty and staff to ensure SALD's place as an integral part of the academic mission of the institution
  • Continue the growth and implementation of Leadership Living Learning Communities
  • Support the Co-curricular transcript
  • Advice Omicron Delta Kappa
  • Advise the National Society of Leadership and Success

Administrative Oversight

  • Manage operational expenses within an established budget
  • Assist in efforts to achieve annual SALD office-wide goals
  • Serve on the SALD Leadership Team
  • Other duties as discussed

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor degree with five (5) years of experience; -OR- Associate degree with seven (7) years of experience; -OR- nine (9) years of experience. Degree must be in a related field. Experience must be related. Experience also requires at least three (3) years supervision.

Preferred experience and qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of student development and leadership theories
  • Knowledge of best practices related to student leadership programs
  • Experience in creating/leading collegiate student leadership programs
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively one-on-one, in small groups, and in public speaking contexts
  • Practice in assessing programs
  • Classroom Teaching Experience
  • Master's degree in college student personnel, counseling, education or related field
