About This Role

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership and oversight for a team of Software and Systems Engineers, including key disciplines such as Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, System Safety, Cybersecurity, Reliability, and other technical areas essential to program success.
  • Ensuring adequate staffing levels for both disciplines, managing Full time employees, co-ops, interns, and contractors, and forecasting future resource needs to address potential workforce gaps.
  • Driving development and engagement of engineers by setting objectives, conducting performance reviews, providing feedback, mentoring, and coaching for technical growth and career progression.
  • Overseeing and enforcing best practices for Software Engineering activities, such as software architecture, development and requirements engineering, adoption and implementation of Agile methodologies and tools, and continuous process improvements.
  • Overseeing Systems Engineering activities to ensure execution excellence in areas such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) with emphasis on SysML modeling, requirements development, system architecture definition, and verification & validation planning.
  • Managing additional domain-specific responsibilities including compliance with System Safety, Cybersecurity, and Systems Reliability standards, and reviewing high-quality system-level and software-level artifacts delivered to customers.
  • Tracking team and program performance by monitoring quality metrics, soliciting feedback from internal management and external customers, and providing regular progress updates to leadership and customers.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience, OR Master's degree (M.S.) with a minimum of 8 years of experience.

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong knowledge of Software and Systems Engineering methodologies, processes, tools, and best practices.
    • Expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML modeling frameworks.
    • Experience with Agile Software Development methods, tools, and practices.
    • Experience with System Architecture, requirements development, and lifecycle management processes.
  • Leadership and Communication:
    • Strong leadership abilities for guiding cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for internal team and customer engagement.
    • Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and problem-solving across multiple engineering domains.
    • Experience in defense, military, or similar industries is highly desirable and preferred.
    • Existing U.S. Security Clearance is preferred; ability to obtain one is required.

Compensation

In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is $146,500 - $224,500 per year.
