A well-established commercial mechanical services firm is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead HVAC service operations across the San Francisco Bay Area. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong operational discipline, customer focus, and experience managing technicians and service workflows in a fast-paced commercial environment.

About the Role

The Service Manager will oversee day-to-day service operations, including dispatch, scheduling, quality control, and team performance. This position plays a critical role in ensuring high customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial performance across a diverse portfolio of commercial facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct dispatch priorities and technician/crew assignments
  • Ensure timely communication with technicians and customers
  • Monitor work orders from creation through closeout to maintain SLA compliance
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and service delivery issues
  • Enforce quality standards for troubleshooting, repairs, and execution
  • Verify technician certifications and ensure compliance with safety practices (lockout/tagout, fall protection, etc.)
  • Manage backlog, work-in-progress (WIP), margins, and invoicing timeliness
  • Conduct performance reviews, workload balancing, and training development
  • Serve as escalation point for key customer accounts
  • Utilize ERP/CMMS systems for scheduling, documentation, and reporting
Requirements
  • 5-8+ years of HVAC service operations experience
  • 3+ years in a leadership role managing technicians, dispatch, or service teams
  • Strong process-oriented mindset
  • Excellent written, verbal, and customer service communication skills
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve proactively
  • Highly organized with strong time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • College degree preferred, not required
